What is the PEST?

PEST is a software program that can be used to generate quizzes with multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, true/false, and drag-and-drop type questions. We, along with the cooperation of the Commode Commandos at the Littleton/Englewood Wastewater Treatment Plant and Julie Koehler from Integra Engineering, have used the PEST to generate study questions for the operator certification exams.

The original wastewater PEST database contains about 1200 questions in a variety of industrial and domestic wastewater treatment categories. The water PEST database contains about 600 questions. We’ll continue to add more questions to the databases over time, so check our website for updates.

What’s So Great About PEST?

The PEST software can be used to create lists of questions as a study aid for the certification exam. Tell the PEST which topics you would like to see and how many questions and it will generate a custom practice test.

One of the best things about the PEST is that it gives immediate feedback so you’ll know right away whether a question was right or wrong. PEST also tracks your overall progress and prints a final progress report by category. PEST can also help users to overcome test anxiety by allowing them to see real-world questions in a relaxed, no pressure environment.

How Much Does PEST Cost?

The PEST software is shareware which means you can use it free for a trial period from Vellosoft.  The question databases are absolutely FREE.

How Can I Get a Copy?

Download a zipped copy of the Personal Exam Self Tester (PEST) Software from Vellosoft.

Install the software by unzipping it and following the prompts. After the software is installed, the wastewater and water question databases can also be downloaded. Copy these files into the PEST directory. For the databases to work correctly, the folder of pictures and the pxt file must be in the same directory. Clicking the links to the right should start automatic downloads.
